We can’t serve one in four Delawareans without the support of our volunteers! Mr. James Buford is one of many committed volunteers who comes to the Food Bank on a weekly basis. Mr. James is someone we can count on. He knows how to do many of our volunteer room projects and serves as a leader to other volunteers. When other volunteers have a question, Mr. James usually has an answer!
“I love to come here to meet new people,” he said. Mr. James’ favorite activities include packing food bags for our Backpack Program for at-risk children and packing meal boxes for our Senior Nutrition Program.
If you don’t see Mr. James in our Volunteer Room, you can catch him in our warehouse packing milk and other items for our Children’s After-School Nutrition program or assisting with our monthly senior food box distribution. Mr. James loves helping with the distribution, because he can talk to the seniors and help brighten their day.
We can always count on Mr. James for a job well-done. “I just love it here. I always want the best for the Food Bank and hope volunteers keep coming back, because I know we love to have them.”
Mr. James loves the Food Bank so much that he jokingly says, “maybe one day, I can be the boss!”
