Thank you to Sanford School for raising $9,018 from their recent Empty Bowls ice cream social! Staff and students, led by art teacher, Alex Ball, spent the past year crafting hundreds of handmade bowls specifically for the event. On Thursday, May 17 all of the bowls were on display for attendees. For a $10 donation individuals received one bowl and ice cream donated by Hy-Point Dairy. From the youngest children in kindergarten to students in the upper school, everyone at Sanford got involved with the project.
Three Food Bank of Delaware staff members had the opportunity to attend the event and purchase a bowl! It was so hard for the group to make a decision as all of the bowls were beautiful! The day’s festivities were well-organized and demonstrated Sanford’s commitment to alleviating hunger in Delaware.
“We’re so thankful for the support of Sanford School,” said our President and CEO, Patricia Beebe. “It’s wonderful when groups approach us with unique ideas to help raise money for hungry Delawareans and build awareness about the work we’re doing in the community. Sanford really hit this one out of the park!”
