We always enjoy hearing about the creative ways Food Bank supporters are working to alleviate hunger in Delaware! Last week we received a phone call from Marti, an employee at the Dover Playtex facility. She told us a great story about her co-worker, Paul. When Paul and his fellow Playtex coworkers learned that one of the plants had office furniture that was not being used, the group decided to hold a red-tag sale to benefit a local nonprofit organization. Fortunately, for the Food Bank, the Playtex employees decided to donate the earnings to us!
Yesterday we had the privilege to meet the man behind the sale! Marti and Paul visited our branch in Milford and presented our Branch Manager, Crystal Timmons, with a check for $800. This is enough money to provide 3,200 meals to Delawareans in need!
We love seeing the different ways our community is getting involved in our fight against hunger. Whether it’s a $5 donation or a $500,000 donation, every little bit helps in ensuring that Delawareans have hot meals on the table!
