We were excited to learn last week that our friends at Schell Brothers in Rehoboth Beach have been chosen to build a home for a lucky family in Sussex County through ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition! To get the community excited, they are holding a pep rally to promote the upcoming show! We were thrilled when Schell Brothers asked us to bring our trucks to Cape Henlopen High School on Tuesday to be a part of the festivities! We’ll be collecting canned goods to help feed hungry families in Sussex County.
The pep rally promises to be tons of fun. The event will bring the local community together in support of this charitable effort, spearheaded by a heartwarming introspective from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Executive Producer, Milan Vasic.
It will be fun for all ages, with surprises throughout the evening, including a special guest MC and appearances from mascots, cheerleaders, and musicians, along with a special patriotic tribute. While the event is free to the public, attendees are asked to bring a canned food donation to benefit the local community.
Immediately following the pep rally, “Glee” star Telly Leung will be featured in a “Building Happiness Extreme Performance Concert” at 8:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. Tickets for the concert will be available at www.SchellBrothers.com/Extreme at a suggested donation of $30.
Telly Leung, recently seen in the hit Fox series “Glee”, was also a member of the final cast of Broadway’s Rent. He made his Main Stem bow in the revival of Flower Drum Song and then appeared in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Pacific Overtures. Leung spent a year playing Boq in the Chicago production of Wicked, and his other theatrical credits include Zanna, Don’t!; Thoroughly Modern Millie; The King and I; Jesus Christ Superstar; Children of Eden; Sweeney Todd; and Godspell. Leung can be heard on the “Wall to Wall Stephen Sondheim” recording, and his debut EP is titled “Getaway.” The actor is also a co-founder of the fledgling Jaradoa Theatre Company and was seen in the Philadelphia Theater Company’s production of M. Butterfly.
In addition to Leung’s performance, attendees will enjoy appearances by Melanie Bradley, Leigh Nordley, Jerry Birl, the Vineland Regional Dance Company, the Delaware Arts Conservatory Tap Dancers, the Delaware Choral Society, and Blue Moon favorite, Pamela Stanley.
During the evening, promotional items such as T-shirts that have been designed exclusively for the Delaware build will be available at a recommended donation and several additional fundraisers have been planned.
