Through the expansion, we are planning to essentially double the size of our current facilty in Milford. The demand for food assistance especially in Kent and Sussex Counties, where rural landscapes and limited transportation infrastructures dominate, has sharply increased. Because of these new demands we must expand soon. Currently, volunteers do not have enough space to work out of, more storage is needed for food and, most importantly, we need space to house our Culinary School so we can provide valuable job training skills to residents of our state’s southern counties.
“We’re thrilled to have Mike’s leadership on this important initiative for our organization,” said our President and CEO, Patricia Beebe. “As a Delawarean who is committed to the wellbeing of all residents of the First State, Mike Castle is the perfect person to help lead our state towards a community free of hunger.”
“It has been a great pleasure to work with the Food Bank of Delaware through the years,” said Castle. “I agreed to serve as Chairman of the Capital Campaign because I believe in their vision and trust in their work ethic. It is our goal in launching this campaign to raise $3.2 million – allowing the Food Bank to double the size of the Milford Branch, leverage new partnerships, increase program efficiency statewide, and provide more effective resource allocation to feed hungry Delawareans. I hope that you’ll consider working with us to help achieve this goal, and ultimately work toward a community free of hunger.”
