Meet Jack. Jack is in second grade and will host his third annual food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware this weekend. Two years ago, Jack’s parents shared a story from The News Journal about families in need of food. He immediately wanted to help. From the generosity of friends, family and neighbors, Jack has collected 1,039 lbs of food in just two years! It was such a rewarding experience that he has decided to do it every year at Thanksgiving time.
With the help of his four-year-old sister, Jack will be picking up holiday food donations from his neighbors this weekend. Earlier this month he passed out flyers to more than 50 neighbors, friends and family asking for their help in making sure no family goes without a holiday meal this year. On Thursday he will email his neighborhood friends and family reminding them that he’ll be out between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. collecting donations. Next Monday he will drop everything off – just in time to ensure that families in Delaware have a big Thanksgiving feast!
Thanks to our friends like Jack, we are working really hard this season to make sure that all Delawareans have a hot holiday meal on the table!
