Wilmington Trust Fuels New Box Truck for One Year!

We are so appreciative to have great partners like Wilmington Trust! They recently announced a new corporate sponsorship to provide the cost of fuel for our new delivery truck for the next year!

Our new 24-foot, refrigerated truck is currently being used for our Summer Feeding Program. Our driver, Joe, uses the truck to deliver meals to programs feeding kids in Kent County. Some of these sites include faith-based organizations, summer camps, daycares and other centers.  Beginning this fall, the truck will be used to help distribute fresh produce and other food to our network of 440 hunger-relief program partners. We will also also use it as a mobile food pantry and to pick up donations.

“Since our founding 107 years ago, we have fostered a culture of caring and commitment to the communities we serve,” said Robert VA Harra Jr., president and chief operating officer of Wilmington Trust.  “We are proud to continue our support of the Food Bank of Delaware. Last year alone, Wilmington Trust staff members donated nearly 4,700 pounds of food to the Food Bank of Delaware that helped feed an increasing number of people throughout Delaware in need of the Food Bank’s services.”

“It takes an entire community to feed hungry Delawareans,” said our President & CEO, Patricia Beebe. “Without Wilmington Trust’s commitment to our vision of ending hunger, our job would be incredibly difficult. Their generous donation allows us to focus our resources on other areas, such as feeding some of our most vulnerable populations – children and seniors.”
