We are so appreciative of the support we get from our community. We hear on a daily basis, “we love getting involved with the Food Bank, but what else can we do?” Well, here’s the answer – join us and Parade Grand Marshall Governor Jack Markell on Saturday, May 22 for Delaware’s first-ever Parade to Fight Hunger presented by Walgreens! We need a massive march up Market Street in Wilmington to show Delawareans, Americans… and the world our commitment to ending hunger. Here in Delaware 241,600 individuals – of that almost half are children – depend on our network of Hunger-Relief Partners for food assistance each year. These numbers are simply unacceptable and together we must do something. Show your support by marching! Strollers, bikes and pets are all welcomed!
The parade will serve as the opening ceremony of the Wilmington Grand Prix, a nationally-ranked professional cycling race and family street festival. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. and will proceed up Market Street. Staging begins at 8:00 a.m. under the arch at 5th and Market Streets. To participate, simply call Parade Organizer, Chris Bell (he also organizes the annual Jaycees Parade during the holiday season) at (302) 893-5636 or (302) 655-6483. For those in need of community service hours, we are also offering four community service hours for participating.
Following the parade will be the inaugural Miles for Meals four-mile relay race presented by Wilmington Trust! For more information about the relay, please click here.
