We love when supporters approach us with innovative ideas to help feed hungry families in the First State! A few months ago, Beverly Bove (to the right of our good friend, Senator Tom Carper!) a committed supporter, toured our facility and thought it was a great spot to host her birthday party!
Last Saturday night (July 14, 2012), close to 70 of Beverly’s closest friends attended her birthday party in honor of the Food Bank! In lieu of gifts, she asked guests to make donations to the Food Bank of Delaware. By the end of the evening we collected close to $12,000 for our neighbors in need!
Our volunteer room was transformed into a special event venue, and Beverly’s guests enjoyed an evening of fine food prepared and served by graduates of The Culinary School at the Food Bank of Delaware. The menu featured lollipop lambchops, chicken osso bucco, beef wellington, mushroom caps, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, gazpacho shooters and much more! Two bartenders, hired by Beverly, served beer, wine and cocktails, and a local band entertained guests for the entire evening – the dance floor was packed!
The Food Bank of Delaware staff who were in attendance had a great time meeting new friends and educating them about the issues of hunger in Delaware! Thank you, Beverly, for hosting a great event at our facility and inviting so many generous people! We appreciate your support of our mission and helping to spread the word of the work we’re doing in our community!
